Individual Dental Insurance
In order to accommodate the dental needs of families, Synergy Benefits offers individual dental plans. Individual dental insurance varies in scope of coverage and associated provisions. The most common individual dental plans are PPOs, indemnity and discount dental plans (DHMOs). Each type of coverage has different specifications, offering variations on flexibility and premium costs.
Discount dental plans consist of smaller networks of participating dentists and are often the least expensive of the three dental insurance options available from Synergy Benefits.
PPO dental plans allow members to choose either in or out of network dentists, although the latter could incur balanced billing depending on the fees of the requested dentist. This option is typically less expensive than the traditional indemnity option, which allows members to see any dentist without network constraints.
With indemnity dental insurance, however, there is the possibility of balanced billing if the dentist chosen charges higher fees than is usual for that geographic location. The high flexibility of this option is the reason it is typically among the most expensive dental policies available.
