Group Dental Insurance

Indemnity dental plans

Traditional indemnity dental plans allow the member to see any dentist without network constraints. However, there is the possibility of balanced billing if the dentist chosen charges higher fees than is usual for that geographic location. This is typically the most expensive dental option available.

PPO dental plans

PPO dental insurance plans are designed with in and out of network capabilities. If an in-network dentist is chosen, the member is guaranteed not to have any balanced billing. However, if a member chooses to venture outside the network, then there is a possibility of balanced billing, depending on the fees charged by the particular dentist. This option is typically less expensive than the traditional indemnity option.

Discount dental plans

Discount dental plans are characterized by utilizing smaller networks of participating dentists. This option is often the least expensive of the three group dental insurance options, but still provides adequate dental benefits in comparison to other dental plans.
